At 60 years old, Jodie Foster has gracefully accepted her new place in the industry as a mentor, offering her wisdom as a seasoned veteran to the next generation of actors navigating Hollywood.

“The part they don’t tell you when you turn 60 is that it’s so much fun because it’s not your time anymore. It’s someone else’s time, and the best part of getting older is realizing that you actually have something to give back. You have something to contribute, to help support other people’s performances, and to help spur other voices that haven’t been heard before,” said Foster.

It’s a sentiment her “True Detectives” co-stars echoed on the red carpet on Tuesday night (which comes days after Foster’s comments regarding Gen-Z’s work ethic made headlines), telling Variety that they earned a master-class in acting from the “Nyad” star.

“It was like being at a training camp with Mike Tyson in ’86, in his prime,” Kali Reis, who stars alongside Foster in the new season, told Variety. “She’s a legend in the game. She’s so intelligent, so collaborative, supportive, She had a directorial eyes. She had her actor eye and she was just such a great partner to work with.”

Reis added, “Her art and her work speaks for itself but she’s just an amazing person. I went in having this goal, wanting to tell the story, but I left with a friend and such a mentor.”

Foster said her best piece of advice is, “Relax, it’s gonna be fine. Don’t worry so much. That’s usually my way.”

Foster stars and executive produces on the fourth season of the HBO drama, which follows Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) as they attempt to solve the mysterious disappearance of the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station in Ennis, Alaska.

In addition to Foster, Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak, Mari Jo Winkler; Chris Mundy; Alan Page Arriaga; Steve Golin; Richard Brown; Woody Harrelson; Matthew McConaughey; Cary Joji Fukunaga, and Nic Pizzolatto executive produce. Princess Daazhraii Johnson, Cathy Tagnak Rexford, Sam Breckman produce. Issa López serves as showrunner, writer, director and executive producer.

Season 4 of “True Detective” premieres on Jan. 14.
