Bob Odenkirk

Bob Odenkirk is an American actor and filmmaker best known for playing Saul Goodman in both “Breaking Bad” (2008-2013) and the spinoff “Better Call Saul” (2015-2022). He got his start as a writer on “Saturday Night Live” in 1987, working alongside Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Farley and Chris Rock.

In 1991, Odenkirk decided to leave “SNL” to pursue acting more seriously. He mainly stayed in the comedy space, scoring minor roles in films and series like “The Larry Sanders Show,” “Wayne’s World 2" and “The Cable Guy.” In 1995, Odenkirk created his own show, “Mr. Show,” alongside David Cross. Running for four seasons, the series helped to elevate Odenkirk into the mainstream and led to his directing work, including 2003’s “Melvin Goes to Dinner” and 2007’s “The Brothers Solomon.” Though Odenkirk continued to appear in small roles on hit shows like “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “How I Met Your Mother” and “Arrested Development”; it wasn’t until his casting in “Breaking Bad” that he finally made it big. The success of the show – which won 16 Emmys during its five-season run – catapulted Odenkirk into more serious film roles, including in Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women,” “The Post,” “The Disaster Artist” and “Nebraska.” In 2015, a spinoff show based on Odenkirk’s “Breaking Bad” character, “Better Call Saul,” premiered and continued for six seasons. The series garnered even more critical acclaim for Odenkirk, who has received many Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his portrayal of Saul Goodman.
