MACON, Ga, -- Bike Tech is moving from their Vineville location to 909 Second Street this summer.

Bike Tech remained at its original location at 3003 Vineville Avenue since opening in 1982.

The company says the decision to move was based on better access to cycling opportunities.

The new location is under renovation and will allow more customers to start and end bike rides from the shop.

It also is closer to bike attractions at the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail and BMX ramps at Carolyn Crayton Park.

The new location will allow more space for bike inventory, a kiosk that highlights local areas to ride and Bike Tech’s full range of on-site repair services.

Owner Bobby Schorr said the new space is being designed to further improve Macon’s cycle-friendly appeal. “Our daily goal is to enhance our customers' cycling experience in Macon and Central Georgia. Bike Tech’s new shop is designed to provide an extremely high level of cycle service and to stock all the bicycles, products and accessories needed to enjoy the ride, right here at home. We are proud to build the bike shop that Macon deserves,” he said.

Bike Tech will share 909 Second St.reet with the Historic Macon Foundation, which is managing the preservation of the historic mid-century modern property.

“There is new energy in this great old building,” said Ethiel Garlington, Historic Macon’s executive director. “One more site in downtown Macon is coming back to life, and we’re glad to share it with Bike Tech.”

Bike Tech will remain open at its 3003 Vineville Avenue until fully transitioned to the new location, expected to be ready in July 2021.
