Subsequent to the official opening of the order books last winter, Renault has now announced the expansion of the 2023 Koleos family Down Under with the new Iconic Edition. A range-topping model that builds on the Intens trim level, which sits above the Zen and base variant, its production will be limited to only 400 copies for Australia.
Some of the features that set it apart from the Intens are the standard metallic paint finish with an exclusive hue added to the palette, the Amethyst Black, a set of 19-inch Initiale Paris wheels said to be unique, a French flag logo adorning the central pillars, and Iconic Edition badging on the tailgate. On the inside, this version of the 2023 Renault Koleos has special entry sills, different floor mats, and a choice of Nappa leather upholstery in Black or Sand Gray.
In terms of equipment, some of the key gizmos that the Koleos Intens Edition comes with are the 8.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital dials, and panoramic sunroof. The front seats have heating, ventilation, and electric adjustment with memory function, and the driver's seat gets a massaging feature. The crossover also gets satellite navigation, a powered hands-free tailgate, rear air vents, two USB sockets at the front, and two more at the rear. The automatic parking system and dusk-sensing headlamps complete the offering.
Like the rest of the range, the limited-edition Koleos is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. It develops 126 kW (171 ps/169 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 226 Nm (168 lb-ft) of torque at 4,400 rpm, and it is hooked up to an X-tronic CVT (continuously variably transmission). The model is offered with front- and all-wheel drive, taking 9.5 and 9.8 seconds, respectively, to complete the 0 to 100 kph (0 to 62 mph) acceleration. The combined fuel economy is 8.1 and 8.3 l/100 km (29/28.3 mpg US), respectively. The Zen and Intens variants can be specified with the AWD system as an option (AU$2,500/US$1,655), and the entry-level is offered solely with FWD.
Pricing for the two-wheel drive Koleos Iconic starts at AU$48,990 (US$32,418), and for the all-wheel drive model, Renault is asking at least AU$51,490 (US$34,072). By comparison, the Intens grade on which it is based can be ordered from AU$45,200 (US$29,910), featuring Nappa leather upholstery and Bose premium audio, and the mid-spec Zen from AU$41,700 (US$27,594), with its electric tailgate, 8.7-inch infotainment, one-touch folding rear seats, etc. Should you settle for 18-inch alloys, parking sensors, rear privacy windows, auto-folding exterior mirrors, height-adjustable front seats, cloth and leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, and a few other things, then the base variant of the 2023 Koleos might be the one for you, as it can be ordered from AU$37,000 (US$24,484).
