Peter Murphy is an English singer and more particularly known for having been the singer of the oh-so-quirky group 'Bauhaus' between 1979 and 1983.
The singer therefore regained his freedom from 1984 and first opened the 'Dalis Car' parenthesis in the company of Japan bassist Mick Karn. An adventure to say the least ephemeral since it will produce only one album, an album that will only experience mixed commercial success, despite its quality more than certain.
The real solo career did not really start until the following year with the release in 1985 of the single "Final solution". Single which will also go somewhat unnoticed except across the Channel. Ditto for the album "Should the world fail to fall apart" from which it is extracted and which will be released a year later in 1986.
The album "Love hysteria" which came out two years later in 1988 was hardly going to do much better, although this time the little success it had garnered from the USA. He painfully produced two modestly successful Singles "All night long" and "Indigo eyes".
It was the album "Deep" which came out in 1989 which finally brought some semblance of dedication to the artist's solo career, notably thanks to the Single "Cuts you up". A Single which will have a notorious success in the United States but very modest across the Channel…
The album will produce two other hits in the US which are "The line between the devil teeth (And that which cannot be repeat)" (!) and "A strange kind of love".
From the United States which are particularly successful for the singer at the sight of the success met by the album "Holy smoke" which comes out in 1992. Album from which will be extracted mainly the Singles "The sweetest drop" and "You're so close ".
A major success which will unfortunately be the last because everything that will come out thereafter will only work moderately whether it is across the Channel or in the USA.
