TP-Link’s latest modem/router combo is an elegantly-styled, matte and gloss black unit sporting three wireless antennae. It’s light, and will look alright stuck in your study or somewhere in the living room.
Its real selling point isn’t design, however, but rather convenience. It offers a dual-band solution to adding Wi-Fi to your network, allowing high-bandwidth tasks like media-streaming and gaming to its 5GHz band, while less intensive tasks can use the lower 2.4GHz band without interrupting more intensive tasks.
It features two USB ports for adding devices like network storage and printers, and even features an actual off-switch for easy resetting – something oddly missing on a surprisingly large number of routers!
With built-in parental controls it’s perfect for any mixed household, and is remarkably easy to get set up and running with a minimum of fuss. Once working, we had no issue connecting a range of devices throughout our handy test residence.
Verdict
This dual band Wi-Fi modem router is remarkably easy to get set up and running with a minimum of fuss.
