Cult Epics Reveals New 4K Restorations of Classic Tinto Brass Films, Announces First 4K Blu-ray Releases
Posted March 28, 2023 05:19 PM by
Cult Epics has announced that it is preparing to release on 4K Blu-ray two classic Tinto Brass films: All Ladies Do It (1993) and Frivolous Lola (1998). The two releases are expected to arrive on the market later this year.
In addition to the two release, the label is preparing a deluxe book titled The Films of Tinto Brass.
The upcoming book The Films of Tinto Brass includes an in-depth biography and analysis of the 30 films directed by Tinto Brass per chapter. Featuring interviews with Tinto Brass, Alan Seekers and others. Presented as a coffee-table hardcover book, size 11x9 inches, 1 inch thick, fully illustrated with poster art, lobby cards, press photos and more. Approximately 250 pages with over 200 re-stored promotional images including many rare and previously unpublished in book form, in color, edited by Nico B. Limited Hardcover edition of 1500 copies.
The label has set up an Ingegogo page to support the release of the book here.
@Deadend45: Not a chance in hell. Only one of his has come out on blu, let alone 4K. The trust set up to look after and preserve Meyer's films is run by exactly the kind of people who should never have been given the responsibility in the first place, which has been [allegedly] amassing money for those overseeing the trust, whilst at the same time spending the lowest amount possible on the preservation of his work. The only one they have released on blu is Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill, which retailed at an eye-watering price and was produced in a comparatively small quantity. All of the DVD editions they have put out in the US (exclusively from the trust) retail at $40 each!! All this from a "non-profit" organisation.
I have the UK DVD box-set (the re-issue, which also includes Europe in the Raw) and I suspect it will be my go-to for Russ Meyer's work for quite a while.
Don't forget both Arrow and Criterion have released Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls on Blu-ray. I can't really comment on the quality though since I've never owned nor watched either disc.
As for the Tinto Brass stuff, I'll be picking up both 4Ks plus the book. Pretty good chance Cult Epics will eventually release the film I always associate Brass with, Caligula.
Both movies i already own on bu-ray from Arrow, but they are going to fly soon. I am a fan of tinto brassī work by
Ut don īt know if i will obtain the book. Only wished that the 4k s had a little collectors booklets with each movie.
