Michael Bublé Reveals the Secret to His Successful 11-Year Marriage

From raising four children to coping with their son Noah’s liver cancer diagnosis (who has been in remission since 2017), Michael Bublé and Luisana Lopilato have overcome a lot in their marriage since saying “I do” in 2011. Despite the difficulties that life has thrown at them, the couple has managed to stay in love with one another. In an interview with Red magazine for the March 2023 issue, the “Just Haven’t Met You Yet” singer opens up about his relationship with the Argentine actress, noting the one thing that’s responsible for their long-lasting union. “More than anything, my wife and I understand that each other’s fulfillment is important,” he says. “I’m not saying we’re perfect. Nobody is, but we both have that understanding.” 

To make sure the other feels content in their career and is able to accept work opportunities that come their way, they split parenting responsibilities. “I won’t be touring for certain months next year because she’ll be filming a movie, and so I’ll be Daddy on set, and then, she’ll do the same for me,” he says. “We don’t care what we do. Being together is the goal.” From January to June of 2023, Bublé will be on tour in the United Kingdom. To make sure the singer is able to be fully present during his gig, his wife will assume the role as caretaker of their children, Noah, Elias, Vida, and Cielo. 

Even though sharing music is one of Bublé’s passions, the musician mentioned how parting ways with his family to tour is always difficult. On Instagram in September of 2022, he shared more about this thought. “These are the moments before I leave to go on tour,” he captioned a photo of himself with Noah on his lap. “Always hard to go but I love what I do and who I do it for ❤️.”

Despite missing his wife and kids, Bublé tells the outlet that preparing for his upcoming concert has been such a rewarding experience, so he’s excited to see how his fans react. “I think this is the best show I’ve done in my life,” he expresses. “I love the recording studio and filming in front of a camera, but it’s not the same as putting thousands of people in a room, who have all gone through a ton and need that connection.” When it comes to performing, Bublé’s goal is to create a shared experience. “What I want to be, without ever preaching, is a unifier," he shares. "It's more than just singing songs or telling a joke, especially given the times we're living in. I’m really trying to unify people and lift them up."

Since Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016, the artist explains how the health scare has transformed his outlook on life and his approach to performing. “For most of my life as an entertainer and especially on stage, I'd become my alter ego,” he tells the outlet. “I’d become the superhero I always wanted to be. Then, my wife and I went through this unthinkable thing, and I lost that alter ego." He even considered leaving music behind to focus on his role as a parent. A few years after the couple brought their oldest son back home, Bublé has been able to see the silver lining in that struggle. “I don't wish that kind of pain upon any human being, but I do feel that when you've truly suffered, when you've truly felt fear and loss, it allows you to live a deeper life,” he explained to People. “Once you've felt those things, you are able, in context, to truly feel joy, gratitude and happiness."

For what’s next on the horizon, the “Sway” singer hints that he may be experimenting with different kinds of music. “The vision has always been to show growth, however alienating that might be to people who liked me in the first place,” he says. “That’s coming. I can’t tell you the exact projects, but you’ll know soon enough.”
