Based on the Mazda 6, the MPS concept shown in Paris shoots some serious adrenaline in the new sports sedan. A direct-injection turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine puts out an impressive 280 horsepower at 6500 rpm, yet still meets ULEV standards. This potent engine is mated to a short-throw six-speed manual transmission that delivers power through an electronically controlled torque-split four-wheel-drive system with help from a limited slip differential. Designed at Mazda's European R&D Center in Oberursel, Germany, the MPS features a larger front bumper, a rear spoiler, flared wheel arches, 18-inch wheels, and subtle-shine "Silver Stone" paintwork.
