[JUST IN] Venue change for Joyous Celebration

Fans have started asking whether the show could be postponed this weekend because of the rain, but Joyous Celebration said nothing will stop their live recording.

The News just received word that the venue for the Joyous Celebration has changed to the Sandton Convention Centre due to the unpredictable weather.

“MTN Joyous Celebration has announced a venue change for its 22nd album live recording. The Joyous 22 All for You Live Recording scheduled for the Maropeng Amphitheatre on Saturday 9 December will now be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on the same day,” the statement reads.

Come rain or shine, the show must go on

The biggest gospel ensemble in Africa, Joyous Celebration, has confirmed that their twenty-second installment, All for You will still be recorded this weekend at the Maropeng Amphitheatre.

Joyous Celebration (JC) look forward to hosting their fans at their ‘special preview’ of the show on 8 and 9 December. Co-founder and choir conductor, Lindelani Mkhize, spoke to the News about preparations and what attendees can expect at the West Rand’s first live recording.

“We have planned a great show and are excited to be sharing it with you as we mark and celebrate yet another milestone. We decided to title this installment All for You: the ‘You’ has two meanings, firstly, it refers to God who is the main reason we praise and worship. And the ‘You’ is also the fans, who are the secondary reason behind this show. This performance is all for you, our fans, for supporting us and believing in us for over two decades,” he said.

Lindelani said they had to work harder preparing for this show, not only because it is their first live show on the West Rand, but because the band is under a spotlight. The musical fraternity looks up to them, and they have to deliver fresh and innovative sounds. To achieve this, JC has introduced gospel poetry, in which a member of the choir musically recites a poem exalting God.

“At JC, we don’t restrict talent, you come as you are to audition or submit your audition on any of our social media platforms and be patient. If we see something different in you that the whole country must witness, you will become a part of JC – no matter your background or act. We are a talent platform,” said Lindelani.

The two-day show will start at 6pm, but attendees are urged to arrive early to explore the Cradle of Humankind’s official visitor’s site; Maropeng, especially those who have never been to the heritage site.

Potentail audience members should please note the following important information to facilitate a smooth experience on the day:

Venue address: Maropeng Visitors’ Centre, R400, just off the R563 Hekpoort Road, Sterkfontein.

Show duration: Between five and six hours (including an interval)

Parking: Ample open-air parking within the complex

Dress code: Comfortable attire (outdoor event)

Other: Refreshments, food and drinks will be on sale throughout the event (no food or beverages allowed when you enter).

Lindelani’s last words to everyone intending to attend the Friday and Saturday show(s), including five lucky News readers who each won a double ticket hamper to the Friday show, was to enjoy the show and experience the Cradle of Humankind.

“Come and experience a journey that will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride in your own body, as you praise and worship the Alpha and Omega,” concluded Lindelani.
