Alan Rickman: 1946 - 2016

Actor Alan Rickman passed away today after a battle with cancer.  Best known to a generation for his role in the 'Harry Potter' franchise as Severus Snape, Rickman played a variety of memorable roles over the years.

Honorable mentions

Alan Rickman had many other roles of note such as the angel Metatron in 'Dogma,' Judge Turpin in 'Sweeney Todd' and Elliot Marston in 'Quigley Down Under'

Rickman also had numerous voice roles including the android Marvin in 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and  the caterpillar in 'Alice in Wonderland'
