It’s Opening Day in Denver on Friday and if you don’t have tickets now, you’re not going. But, the weather is supposed to be gorgeous and springtime is in the snow-filled air, so head down to Denver in your purple Rockies gear anyway and sit outside and people watch.
Denver goes nuts for America’s pastime — well, for a couple months until the boys in uniform start blowing it. (Let’s try to keep it together this year, Rox.)
The game on Friday starts at 2:10 p.m. at Coors Field, 2001 Blake St., Denver, and the LoDo and Ballpark neighborhood bars and patios turn into one big purple party. (Like the one in Dinger’s pants.)
The Rockies are up against the Diamondbacks all weekend, with games also on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. and Sunday at 2:10 p.m. Those may be a little easier to get into, but don’t take my word for it. And if you do make it into Coors, be sure to check out the new Rooftop party deck that was built in the offseason. There’s an Oskar Blues’ CHUBurger cooking up delish grub and a Rio Grande serving up its potent margs. (Same as the ones on Walnut Street in Boulder.) Info: colorado.rockies.mlb.com
Spinning live
What is a forty-five, you ask? A vinyl record played at 45 rpm, usually singles. (Those little guys that need the spacer adapters on the turntable.)

KTCL’s Alf, the Denver DJ, (on air 8 p.m.-midnight on Sundays on 93.3) hosts up a really cool DJ set that mixes live musicians with him spinning vinyl, called Forty-Five plus One. (Ah.) On Saturday at 9 p.m., Lost Lake, 3602 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, is hosting an ’80s edition of the event of the post-punk, new wave variety.
Alf has again gathered big Denver names for his gig, including members from Warlock Pinchers, Five Iron Frenzy, Churchill, The Swayback, The Epilogues, My Body Sings Electric, Wire Dogs, Reno Divorce, Vices I Admire, Foxfield Four and The Portrait — all performing live while he spins hits.

’80s Burlesque
Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe St., Denver, is a place to keep in mind when your rich friend comes to town and wants to see some sexy burlesque, circus-style sideshows and cheeky performance art.
Lannie’s always has great shows, but the catch is … it’s always around $30-$40. An entertaining show worth it, I’m sure, but when we have that kind of cash, we usually drop it on our bar tab, or 30 Taco Bell chili cheese burritos.
We’re drunk and hungry. Shh.
If you have the bucks to spend, Friday night at 8 (doors at 7 p.m.) is Ladies of the ’80s Burlesque Tribute show. The star, Midnite Martini, is an aerialist joined by her Clocktower Clockette burlesque troupe, performing to music and comedy numbers from that vibrant decade. This is also a chance to dress like a fool, as there will be prizes for the best ’80s costumes. Lannie’s shows often sell out, so check here before hauling all the way to Denver: lannies.com. SnowBall late-night party
By the snow ball’s chance in hell you’re not going to SnowBall (holy hell, put me out of your misery) this weekend, Casselman’s, 2620 Walnut St., Denver, is hosting a late-night party for the music festival.
There will be performances by acts in the festival, so if you’re a huge fan, see them twice: Friday will have The Floozies, heRobust and Nick Perfido; Saturday will have Kill The Noise, Caked Up and Bones; and Sunday will have KapSlap and What So Not.
All three days begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10-$25. You must have a festival ticket and a Casselman’s late-night ticket for entry. 18 and up. casselmans.com
