A waterfront mansion that stretches across three adjacent lots on the Manhattan Beach Strand is on the market for $150 million.

The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the ultraluxury listing, revealed tech investor-owner Rob DeSantis, who is not related to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, is open to selling his custom home if the right buyer comes along.

If it gets anywhere near the ask, it would be the all-time most expensive home sold in Manhattan Beach. According to the MLS, the current record-holder is a $21 million home that traded hands in July 2022.

DeSantis’ home already claims the city’s highest list price ever, surpassing L.A. Kings’ Anze Kopitar’s $37 million home.

Aside from the hefty price tag, the listing states the property is “The Strand’s first, only, and last triple-lot beach house.”

DeSantis, a serial entrepreneur, told the Wall Street Journal that he purchased the three lots in 2000 for about $13 million and spent several years building the home. Complaints from neighbors led the city to limit the size of future development to double lots, but DeSantis’s design already got the go-ahead.

Designed by architect Grant Kirkpatrick and completed in 2009, the 12,640-square-foot residence has seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms spread across three levels. (We should note that a video tour by the globe-hopping real estate enthusiast and YouTuber Enes Yilmazer puts the home at 18,000 square feet.)

Skylights, wood-framed windows and French doors, marble finishes, hardwood and tile floors, decorative ceiling and wall treatments and built-ins add character to the interior.

Almost every room has window views or direct access to the outdoors.

Both the kitchen, with its center island, walk-in pantry and breakfast nook, and the family room on the entry level open to a pergola-covered patio.

The great room flows onto a private courtyard with an outdoor fireplace on one side and on the other the backyard. It features a lawn and a pool with four windows on the bottom that illuminate different areas of a full bathroom on the level below it. The backyard is also accessible from the wood-paneled office, which features a built-in fish tank and a secret door that conceals a staircase up to the primary bedroom on the top floor.

French doors open from the bedroom to a long balcony that overlooks the backyard and beyond.

The top floor is also home to the gym with a hot tub and sauna on the deck.

Take the skylit staircase or ride the elevator to the lower level entertainment lounge and wet bar, which open onto a covered patio next to The Strand. The patio has a spacious outdoor kitchen, along with dining and seating areas equipped with built-in speakers and space heaters.

A three-car garage rounds out the offerings.

Eric Fonoimoana and Brook Billings of Compass and Branden and Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates share the listing. The agents were connected with DeSantis through TrueParity, an online real estate platform in which elite agents compete for homeowners’ listings.

The property is also available for a year-long lease of $120,000 a month.
