Leo Sayer, 75, reveals he's been in hospital for three weeks after becoming 'very ill' as he is forced to cancel UK shows
Leo Sayer has been hospitalised after coming down with several medical complications, forcing him to cancel his UK gigs.
The More Than I Can Say singer, 75, apologised for leaving his fans 'disappointed' but explained he had becoming 'very ill' at 'the last moment' before he could fly to the UK.
He took to his Facebook to share a health update, revealing he was still in hospital in Australia and had been there for three weeks.
Leo wrote: 'I haven’t posted anything publicly about this before but I couldn’t fly or make the recent shows in the UK as I became very ill just before the trip.
'I have been in hospital here for the last 3 weeks in Australia with kidney, bladder and prostrate complications.

'It all happened at the last moment, so it was too late to warn anyone. Many thanks to Butlins and Tony Denton for making replacement arrangements for these shows.
'I’m so sorry to have disappointed my fans but these things can happen to us 75 year olds!'
He went on to add that he was recovering well and that he hoped to be back performing next year.
He said: 'I’m still in hospital now but well on the mend. I will take a necessary short break from activities and be back fighting for shows in 2024. - particularly my UK and Ireland tour next autumn.
'Thank you everyone for all your concerns and good wishes…'
Leo, who has lived in Australia since 2009, launched his career in the UK in the 1970s, with his first seven singles all reaching the top 10.
The singer also found success in the US, with his second LP Just A Boy reaching number 16 in the charts while his fourth album Endless Flight reached the top 10.
Leo suffered a series of financial setbacks in the 80s when it was revealed much of his monetary success in the previous decade was lost after his manager Adam Faith made a series of bad investments.

Leo sued Faith for mismanagement and the case settled out of court in 1992, with the singer reportedly receiving a payout of £650,000.
His hospital stay comes after he married his partner Donatella Piccinetti in an intimate home ceremony earlier this year.
The musician tied the knot with his girlfriend of nearly 40 years in Australia surrounded by their family and friends in April.
Leo confirmed the happy news on his Instagram account, releasing a statement that read: 'This past weekend was truly a dream…
'After being partners for almost 39 years, Donatella Piccinetti and Leo Sayer got married in their garden in the Southern Highlands on Saturday 15th of April.
'It was a very private ceremony where the couple were joined by 40 of their closest friends. There was a reception lunch held afterwards at the famous Magpie Restaurant in Berrima.
'The weather was sunny, the bride was radiant, the groom looked handsome and they couldn't be happier with how the day went.'

The hitmaker was previously married to Janice Lister, with the couple divorcing in 1985.
As well as his singing career, Leo is also well known for his memorable appearance on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.
In one of the great televised hissy fits, the Grammy winner stormed out on Day 10 following a row sparked by Channel 4’s refusal to furnish him with a clean pair of underpants.
The star escaped from the house armed with a shovel and clashed with the show's security guards on the way out.
In a past interview with the Daily Mail, Leo admitted he was 'not proud' of the way he lost his temper and said he regretted taking part in the show, calling the house an 'evil place'.
He said: 'There were extremes of human behaviour. Lots of crazy! It's sad to say that it's all a set-up. They find a nice guy like Leo and make fun of him.
'When I broke out, I had bruises on my arm from where the security guy held me. It was horrible, and I lost my temper.
'I'm not very proud of what I said, but I wanted to break away from this guy who was really hurting me. I felt like suing them afterwards.'
