'I knew that something wasn't right': Kasey Chambers reveals she suffered an eating disorder at the age of 30, weighing just 44 kilos as she struggled to cope with the pressures of fame
She is one of Australia's most beloved musicians.
But in the mid-2000s, as she achieved international fame and married beau Shane Nicholson, Kasey Chambers was fighting a battle with anorexia and bulimia.
'I just didn’t feel myself and I knew that something wasn’t right,' the country star revealed on Mia Freedman's podcast No Filter.

Kasey was 30 at the time, and her rise to stardom had left her feeling out of control.
At her lowest point, Kasey weighed just 44 kilos.
'I wouldn’t look in the mirror and see someone really fat,' Kasey revealed. 'It wasn’t an image thing for me... It was more about the control thing.'

For a time Kasey struggled to believe that she was battling an eating disorder, as she was a 30-year-old mother-of-one who wasn't fixated on her appearance.
'It couldn’t be that... Everything pointed to ‘Nah, that’s not me'', the candid star revealed.

Kasey eventually sought help for her illness, and now believes her eating disorder was triggered by not actively addressing the stress and negativity in her life.
The star told the podcast, 'I think a lot of that actually was me not allowing myself to kind of break down every now and then.'
Fighting fit, today Kasey is now 40 and feeling in a good place with her life.

The country music queen says she is more able to take the good with the bad, and tries to 'embrace the negative in life'.
Kasey went on to have two children with Shane, Arlo, now 9, and Poet, who is 5.

They joined Kasey's oldest child, Talon, from a previous relationship.
Although Kasey and Shane separated in 2013, the star has been able to cope with the difficulties that now arise in her life.
In November, Kasey appeared happy and healthy on the red carpet at the ARIAS, dazzling in a purple sequined frock.
