A man who quit his 9-5 job to work as an escort has lifted the lid on his new lifestyle – explaining how he earns money from people in need of companionship.
Ryan James was working in finance when a woman he was dating decided to return to her work as an escort.
Unhappy with his career, he decided to follow suit, and has since established himself as a successful male companion.
Sharing his story on the I’ve Got News For You podcast, the Australia-based sex worker – who also runs an OnlyFans account – explained how a career as an escort works.
Ryan revealed that he doesn’t have a typical client, but admitted that he is occasionally booked by people hoping to pop their cherry in a less awkward setting.
“I’ve seen virgins in their twenties, virgins in their forties, women on disability benefit, women who are retired in their thirties, so just all sorts of backgrounds and occupations,” he said.
“I guess it’s not so much a teaching experience… Some might say they want to get it over with, or they want to lose their virginity on their terms, or maybe they just don’t have the confidence to go out there and meet a guy.
“Or maybe they’ve reached an age when they feel like it’s embarrassing to go and date a guy and tell them, ‘I'm in my thirties and I’m a virgin’.
"So they just think it’s easier to do it in a way where they’re comfortable, they’re in control, and it goes at their pace and they know there won’t be any hidden surprises.”
The Australian described how he is also often hired by couples, with the man sometimes paying to watch while Ryan sleeps with his partner.
And, Ryan explained that while sex is almost always involved, a considerable element of his job is fulfilling “non-sexual” needs.
This means, for instance, heading away on exotic holidays with clients where he takes part in activities and fine dining.
Perhaps best of all is the fact that Ryan gets paid for these services.
“I have a first time rate, which at the moment is $800 (roughly £450) for two hours, and then after that it’s $800 for the first hour and $600 (about £340) after that,” he said.
“I also have special rates for dinner dates. So if we’re going for dinner we’ll spend four hours together and that’s slightly discounted off my full rate.
“For overnights, 24 hours, weekends away or longer, I also have special hours for that.”
But, it isn’t all sunny holidays in exotic locations – and Ryan confessed that he’d received his fair share of strange requests.
“The weirdest request – which I obviously didn’t go through with – was a woman contacted me and said she wanted a baby, so asked me to leave some sperm in a jar in a letterbox for her,” he recalled.
