Pixies and Nude Girls
South Africa was overwhelmed with excitement yesterday when AMP Events announced that the Pixies would be embarking on their first-ever tour of the country.
The Pixies will be headlining the "Rock on the Lawns" music festival, which is to be held at Carnival City in Johannesburg. The band will also be playing at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town. At Carnival City, the Pixies will be supported by a host of South African bands including, the Springbok Nude Girls, Prime Circle, aKing, Crash Car Burn, Shortstraw, The Sweet Resistance and DJ, The Robfather. In Cape Town there will only be one support act, the Springbok Nude Girls. The concert in Cape Town will take place on the 16th March 2017 and the one in Johannesburg on the 18th March 2017.
The current Pixies line up is Black Francis, Joey Santiago, David Lovering and and Paz Lenchantin. Lenchantin replaced Kim Shattuck, who in turn, took the place of original bassist, Kim Deal who left the band in 2013. The band released their new album, Head Carrier in September 2016.
