Lubbock, Texas – Austin Green drove in the game-winning run as the Texas Tech Red Raiders beat the Stanford Cardinal 10-9 at home in 11 innings. Kevin Bazzell hit the game-tying 2-RBI home run in the 9th inning.

Stanford scored two runs in the 8th inning to tie the game at 7-7.

In the top of the 9th, the Cardinal brought in the go-ahead run after a throwing error by shortstop Tracer Lopez advanced a runner from first to home. After a Tech pitching change, Stanford drove in another run to go up 9-7.

With one out in the bottom of the 9th, Damian Bravo (3-5, 3 runs) hit a single to get on board. Bazzell then hit the game-tying home run to left center field to tie the game at 9-9.

In the 11th inning, Landon Stripling hit a lead-off single to get on board. Bravo followed that with a single to advance Stripling into scoring position.

Bazzell then hit a single of his own to move the runners over. Austin Green hit the game-winning single over the infield and into shallow right field to score Stripling.

In addition to Bazzell, TJ Pompey and Owen Washburn both hit home runs in the contest.

Texas Tech starting pitcher Jack Washburn went for 3.0 innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs. The Red Raiders tossed seven total pitchers.

The Tech defense was assessed with four errors, and the Cardinal offense stranded 13 total baserunners.

The Red Raiders (20-9, 5-7) wrap up the two-game series with the Cardinal tomorrow at 12:00 pm. The game can be heard on Double T 97.3 FM.
