Forntite is about to launch its new Greek Mythology-themed season at the end of this week, and slowly (well, quickly) things are beginning to leak out about it in addition to the official teasers that Epic has been posting. They are trying to capitalize on the good amount of hype that spanned from OG Fortnite’s release to Chapter 5’s launch, and so far the Greek Mythology angle seems pretty cool.
From Fortnite’s army of dataminers and leakers, what we think we know about Chapter 5, season 2 is:
- New collabs will be Persona and then a revisitation of God of War with Atreus and the original Greek version of Kratos.
- Olympus itself will be a POI on the new map, which is not exactly a huge shock.
- There will be the introduction of a flying ability, which may be the wings of Icarus, if we are focused on mythology. Thirty second cooldown and looted from chests.
- Another item will be a Golden Apple that will give players a speed boost.
- Cerberus will have a three-headed shotgun of some kind.
- There will be a Hades mythic weapon that’s a fiery chain and a whip.
- Zeus will have a fight with three different stages to it. Possibly Medusa, Ares and Cerberus will have similarly staged boss fights.
- There will be four mythics in total, likely from those bosses.
- You will fight monsters who are “henchmen” for gods.
- Among the potential battle pass and store skins pulled from Greek myth are: Zeus, Ares, Cerberus, Aphrodite, Medusa, Aretmis, Ares, Odyssey, Apollo, Hermes, Hephastus, Persephone, Minotaur.
Given how close we are to release, I would expect the leaks to escalate rather quickly. It remains to be seen if the entire battle pass will end up Greek or just the majority of it. Usually we cannot escape some sort of collab, but I guess we’ll see.
Just when you think Fortnite has run dry for seasonal ideas, they dip into something new and fun. I mean, Greek Mythology is not exactly unexplored territory in video games, but I think it’s a pretty good basis for a Fortnite season given the sheer amount of ground they’ve covered elsewhere.
We will see more and more teasers of various Greek myths in the coming days, as we’ve already started with Zeus and Hades. If they’re doing the “bosses” I would expect Medus and Ares next, but we’ll see. Stay tuned for more.
