Being a welder | Tyler Tries It

FOX43's Tyler Hatfield visited Earlbeck Gases and Technologies Welding Training Center in York County to learn what it takes to be a welder.

YORK, Pa. — There is a welder shortage in south-central Pennsylvania and across the country. It's so severe that the American Welding Society has predicted a shortage of around 360,000 welders by 2027.

FOX43’s Tyler Hatfield went to Earlbeck Welding Training Center to light up the torch and put on the helmet, to learn about the trade and art of welding.

Tyler learned about the different types of PPE welders must wear on the job. He also learned from John Ciurlino, a trainer at Earlbeck Gases and Technologies, about the different types of welds.

Watch Tyler Hatfield get first-hand experience with welding in the video above.
