Northern Michigan man wins $1M Mega Millions prize
A northern Michigan man could have missed out on $1 million if he hadn't checked his desk.
Seventy-three-year-old Gerald Carrig of Irons purchased Mega Millions tickets for the Jan. 29 drawing. Then, he forgot about them.
He had no idea one of them was worth $1 million.
Thankfully, Carrig eventually spotted the tickets.
"I saw them sitting on my desk one day and decided to check them," he told the Michigan Lottery. "I saw I had matched the first number and then kept matching more. When I realized I’d won $1 million, I about had a heart attack!"

His ticket, purchased at the Meijer gas station located at 3900 West US Highway 10 in Ludington, matched the five white balls drawn — 04-44-58-59-70.
"It feels unreal to win a $1 million prize, I still can’t believe it," he said.
Carrig plans to use the money to pay for his new home and help his family.
