The bubble bob is airy, floaty and *perfect* for spring

The Bubble Bob Is The Cutest Crop To Know About

After a brief hiatus to make room for XXL lengths and ‘70s midis, we're majorly craving short cuts again. And, heading into spring, the bubble bob is one of the cutest crops we've seen.

In general, it seems the classic bob haircut is tempting more of us over to the short side. Already this year, Hailey Bieber, Zendaya, Emily Ratajkowski, Ciara, Elsa Hosk and Paris Hilton have all traded in longer lengths for a shoulder-baring chop. But unlike a trad straight blunt bob, or an undone, hacked bob, the bubble bob has its own credentials going on for it.

Like its name would suggest, it's airy, floaty and seriously swooshable. Plus, it calls on some graduation (where the length slopes slightly) to create more of a rounded, bubble shape.

One of our favourite examples comes from Aussie hairstylist and salon owner, Bel, who's the lead pair of scissors behind cult Adelaide salon, Pipsqueek in Saigon. Her subtly A-line bubble bob creates that cute curved shape we've been talking about. It's full, swishy and the slightly longer length at the front cups the jaw and adds to the rounded vibe.

“This is a subtle, graduated bob," Bel explains. "I cut in the base line, then softly added light graduation at the back to elevate the shape a little more," she continues. As for what to ask your stylist if you want in on the chop, "I'd request a blunt bob with a bit of weight taken out the back,” says Bel.

And, just in case you need more inspo, here's five more of our favourite ways to wear the bubble bob…

The reverse bubble bob

Elsa's adorable new chop has slightly shorter front pieces, but they still frame her face beautifully

The blunt(ish) bubble bob

The baseline is almost blunt straight across, but the stacked shape at the back and curved jaw-length layers add airiness.

The sleek bubble bob

Depending on how you style, you can amp up how sleek or gravity-defying your bubble bob is to suit your mood.
