Supporting Remi's Fight for Rideshare Fairness.

My name is Remi, and I'm reaching out to you with a story that has deeply impacted my life. I'm 30 years old, and I'm a student at the University of Maryland GC, striving to make ends meet while working as a rideshare driver for Lyft.

However, an incident occurred on Saturday, July 22nd, that has shaken my sense of safety and fairness. During a night shift, I accepted a ride request to transfer two young women from Maryland to Washington, D.C. What should have been a routine trip turned into an unsettling experience.

As the journey began, the passengers started eating and drinking in my car. I politely asked them to refrain from doing so due to concerns about lingering odors. Regrettably, my request was met with resistance and aggression. They even used pepper spray and attempted to take my car keys, all while accusing me of discrimination.

The police were called, and they arrived after one hour but the incident left me feeling vulnerable and my rights were not adequately restored. When I reported the situation to Lyft, they offered a mere $80 compensation for the damages caused by spilled beverages, which did not address the full scope of the issue.

Considering the ongoing legal complexities and my personal safety concerns while working for Lyft, I've taken the step of initiating legal action against them. This decision hasn't been easy, but I believe it's crucial to stand up for fairness, safety, and the rights of all rideshare workers.

In light of these events, I’ve begun the process of initiating legal action against Lyft. I’m seeking assistance to cover the costs of transportation, and travel, and to support myself during this challenging time when I can’t work full-time.
