David Beckham has announced a new Netflix documentary with throwback photos on Instagram.

The 47-year old former professional footballer has shared the news that he is partnering with Netflix for a new documentary series, to the delight of elated fans.

The series is set to follow David’s life and football career, starting with his humble childhood in East London. The documentary will continue throughout his life and career, focusing largely on his rise to stardom and becoming one of the most recognisable midfielders of his generation.

In the joint post with Netflix, David wrote: “I'm excited to confirm that I am partnering with @Netflix on a documentary series about my life and career… The series will feature unseen archive, untold stories as well as interviews with the people who have been a part of my journey.”

Fans will get to see a collection of unseen personal archive footage, which is sure to be heartwarming. David's family, friends, and colleagues will also take part in the documentary, and discuss David both on and off the pitch.

The Italian vehicle manufacturer Maserati, David’s son Romeo, and chef Gordon Ramsay are amongst those who congratulated David on his post, where he shared a photo of him at the height of his Manchester United career, a sweet childhood snap, and a recent shot - giving followers a taste of what they can expect from the documentary.

Although we’re not yet sure when the series will air, we know that it is set to be directed and produced by Academy Award winners Fisher Stevens and Oscar winning John Battsek. Beckham's very own television company, Studio 99, will produce the series, along with Ventureland.
