Having wiped out every major city on the planet, the Kyra are herding survivors into safe zones where they have promised to re-establish order and provide the basic necessities. Fences are erected to keep out the failed hybrids, known as “Dregs”. Meanwhile, the successful hybrids are sent away to fight in the Kyra's war.
That is Christopher Randall's primary concern when he and his family are taken to the safe zone in New San Bernardino: What if they get conscripted, too? Making matters worse, the zones aren't as safe as the Kyra claim. Dregs prowl the streets at night, and the Chimeras that hunt them aren't much better. The zones are little more than concentration camps with a singular goal: Breed humans to produce a new generation of conscripts.
Chris quickly realizes that they'll be better off in the Wastes, but escaping won't be easy. The refugees have tracking implants with remote kill switches, and attempting an escape could be the last thing the Randalls ever do. Yet when Christopher's daughter, Gaby, begins drawing too much attention to herself, he realizes that if they don't escape soon, his family will never be the same.

When I read the first book of The Kyron Invasion, Arrival, I was looking forward to enjoying this series. Seeing an invasion from the perspective of one central character tells a story I usually enjoy. But part way through this second book, it became clear that this is basically a zombie story dressed up as science fiction.
That's ok if the reader likes zombie stories. I do not. So, I did not finish this series.
If you like zombie stories, you will enjoy this series. Jasper Scott is a good author. I always enjoy his writing.
I've said it before and it's worth repeating. This type of sci-fi isn't exactly my cup of tea. But guess what - I loved this book! Jasper is writing such a fast-paced book that you just can't put it down. There were a number of points where my heart was beating so fast that I could barely breathe. You can constantly see how Chris Randall grows from a quiet man to a fast acting, fearless soldier - whether he realizes it or not. But where is the revolution going to go now? And who are the Chrona? Are they truly going to be Earth's saviours or another overlord? I can't wait for Book 3 to arrive in November.
Earth has been subjugated: people are dead or savages or soldiers for the aliens - 5 stars
Organized resistance to the earth's invaders stopped within days. Most people obey orders or have become carnivores ("dregs") that hunt in packs. The cleanup operations burn up bodies, collect materials for recycling, work long days, and barely survive.
Chris Randell tells his story as he tries to keep his family together. His daughter has been transformed into a hairless, pale 6-year-old with four ear stalks. While her family still loves her, humans that see her are frightened.
The family returns to their serviceable but dangerous dwelling to try to sleep through the night. Each day people die. There are attacks by mindless people who have been turned into animals; the military discipline is brutal. The work crews make good progress working through the daylight hours to make the area safer and rescue occasional strays.
Chris steps up to make a difference, even saving the life of an officer. The point of working with the enemy is questioned when Chris' daughter is taken away by other troops.
A complicated rescue plan involving hovercraft, shooting "dregs" and using a military exosuit elevates the excitement together with new conflicts to be resolved, mostly by fighting and doing desperate things. I'm stoked for the third book in this high-energy series.
Hugely entertaining read This review of the 2nd book in series Kyron Invasion. Written by USA Today best selling author Jasper T. Scott. I have read, and must say I was very impressed with his ability to tell a good story. From the first chapter I felt pulled into the story-line and found myself rooting for Chris Randall who is the lead character, along with his family. Filling out the book is some heart-stopping action, some rather terrifying creatures called Dregs, that are enough to give any weak-kneed readers nightmares. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the next book "End Game". I highly recommend you read this entire series Kyron Invasion.
As a general rule I do not like to read serials. They are so often banal, bland, and a boring let down. I can honestly report this series, The Kyron Invasion, has not been boring. So not boring that I did something different than any others series ask far... I pre-paid for three second in the series. I have not been disappointed other than having to wait for the next installment.
Only one warning thought pops into my mind: Game of Thrones. Please, no induced suicidal thoughts! As a ghost I will not be a kind haunt.
Chris and his family have been picked up by the invading forces. Can he keep his family safe and also escape from the so called safe zone. There is plenty of surprises and twists along the way. Plus help from an unexpected source. This second installment fills out more of the back story from the first series. Definitely recommend this series
Seat of your pants action. The first few chapters I had difficulty with mostly because of the author 's style. once I got through it, all was Good. The different aliens were confusing and I had to go back and.forth to keep them straight. I have it 5 stars because.it.really is a good book. Characters interacted well. Worth the read and looking forward to next book.
I wondered how the kyra and chrona came about. Look forward to the next where this group colonise and reach out to the chrona, but aren't the crona worse than the kyra?
Wondering if they have gone from feeling somewhat safe. Chris has to lean more into his military training to help him protect his family and knowing it it’s possible to find an ally within the Chimera’s. Great plotting and action.
I am very pleased that book two lived up to the action in book one, it was another one I did not want to put down. And now there seems to be some suspense leading into book three, can't wait to start it.
The action in this series of books is really nonstop. The premise of an invasion by more technologically advanced aliens is well developed and believable. I am eagerly awaiting the next book.
Plenty of action as our intrepid ex soldier tries to rescue his family after an alien invasion. I don't want to spoil the surprises, but there are a few, so get reading, but read book 1 first.
This is definitely one of those stories rathat you can’t put down. Excellent character development and non stop action. Looking forward to the third in the series. Thank you again Mr. Scott.
2021 is wild I'm getting into sci-fi and this is masterfully written whereas I didn't get any trouble visually creating the characters and seeing the world there are currently in
Nonstop action with a little humor. I like that and plenty of tough attitude drama from the female persuasion. I’m looking forward to the next book. Thanks!
No confusion of characters. You follow one family in their desperate escape. Confrontations with aliens are described very well and easy to picture in your mind.
The story gets better with each book! Recommend! Characters and setting are realistic and believable with a deepening storyline that makes it a page turner.
