Photograph Inscribed and Signed: To Betty/W/love/Charlie Rich",
B/x 8x10, signed in silver ink. Charlie Rich (1932-1995) began his
professional music career while in the US Air Force-playing jazz and blues. In
1955, he left the military and tried his hand at farming in Tennessee. The jazz
and R&B clubs around the Memphis area inspired him to not only perform but
also to try his hand at writing-Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Mann all
recorded his songs. With only nominal success recording, it took until 1973 for
him to shine - CMA and ACM Album and Single of the Year Awards as well as
Male Vocalist of the year. 1974 brought him Album of the Year again as well as
Entertainer of the Year and a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance. He
even tried his hand in the movies -playing himself in Every Which
Way But Loose (1979). Rich received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award for
"Behind Closed Doors" in 1998. Fine condition.
