Once a medieval hunting lodge and later home to the Duke of Clarence, 13th-century country house hotel Lime Wood hides away in the depths of Hampshire's New Forest. It's easy to become immersed in designer David Collins' traditional, quietly glamorous interior, but a new one-bedroom lake cabin on Lime Wood's estate has created a more intimate experience, with all the hotel's foodie and spa treats just a slipper-shuffle away.
Designed by owners Robin and Judy Hutson, the cabin sits on stilts over Lime Wood's lake, surrounded by park and woodland, and has everything you could dream of for a weekend - or even just a night - away. There's a little bar area for making cocktails or popping champagne, and a four poster bed and plush green velvet sofa looking out onto a terrace, where a silver roll top bath in front of a log burner is inviting. Walls are clad in reclaimed timber, both inside and out, and floors finished with art deco style tiling.
