Close to 47.5 per cent of Indians log on to the porn website from their desktops, while 49.9 per cent use their mobile phones. After the US and UK, Pornhub's third highest Android traffic comes from India, while Indians make up the fifth highest number of daily visitors to the website.
Only 2.6 per cent Indians use tablets to watch porn, although the global average for tablet usage to access porn is much higher at 11 per cent.
Quite expectedly, the results show that India's favorite porn star is the Indian-origin Canadian Sunny Leone, who is now a popular Bollywood actress too. She is followed by adult entertainment stars Lisa Ann and Priya Rai.
The results also show that the most popular search terms Indians use to find their porn are: Sunny Leone, Indian, Lisa Ann, Indian wife and Indian bhabhi.
The data shows that users in Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and the northeastern states spend the most amount of time on the site, and visit more number of pages than other states. While the country views an average of 7.32 pages per session (compared to the global average of 7.6), Mizoram and Delhi clock in more than 8, which is by far the highest in the country. The national average time spent in one session of porn-viewing is 8.22 minutes (34 seconds less than the global average).
The study also mentions that more than one-fourth of the people watching porn in India are women, and that the most popular category among them is lesbian, followed by gay.
Indians are most active on Pornhub on Saturdays, while Sunday is the least active day. Surprisingly, in countries like the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and Brazil, Monday is the most popular day.
The study mentions that the data was gathered between September 2013 and September 2014.
