Bachelor in Science (Chemistry), National University of Singapore, Singapore
Postgraduate Diploma in Education, National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore

Joanna attained her Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree, majoring in Chemistry, from the National University of Singapore and her Postgraduate Diploma in Education with credit from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore. She was a recipient of the Teaching Award given by the Ministry of Education. She has also undergone International Baccalaureate’s specialised training in teaching Chemistry.

Joanna taught Chemistry at Tampines Junior College from 2003-2008. She was selected to participate in the Teachers’ Local Attachment Programme, jointly organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). In 2009, Joanna joined School of the Arts, Singapore (SOTA) to craft and develop the Chemistry curriculum. She was appointed Subject Head, Chemistry in 2012 and coordinated the Chemistry team. She collaborated extensively with the arts and science teachers in SOTA to help find the connection between Arts and Science and presented at the Inaugural Science Teachers’ Conference.
