AYSS seminar at JINR Scientists’ Club

Seminars

On 24 January 2024, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6, Joliot-Curie street, left side).

A BLTP leading researcher Anton Baushev will deliver a lecture “Dark matter, the only real hope of high-energy physics”.

The lecture is about one of the most intriguing mysteries of modern physics, the existence of dark matter. The author will present an overview of current knowledge about dark matter, i.e. from theoretical considerations to numerous experimental attempts to find it. The author will explain why scientists are confident in the existence of dark matter despite its elusiveness. In addition, listeners will learn in what way dark matter differs from dark energy and the way you can search for something we know nothing about. At the end, the lecturer will try to answer any astronomy questions, even if the topics covered are not connected with dark matter.

There will be a small coffee break at 4:00 PM, which precedes the seminar. The report will start at 4:15 PM.

To join the event on 24 January, please fill in the form via the link not later than 4:00 PM 23 January.
