READY TO HOST SOME ELITE ATHLETES. SHELLY: ACTION 7 NEWS REPORTER SHELLYE LEGGETT FOUND OUT HOW THE EVENTS WILL HELP BOOST THE CITY’S ECONOMY. SHELLYE: IT TAKES A WORLD CLASS TRACK TO HOST WORLD CLASS TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES, AND THE CITY SAYS THEY ARE UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. THE DUKE CITY IS DEVELOPING A REPUTATION IN THE TRACK AND FIELD WORLD. >> THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE A PHENOMENAL INDOOR TRACK SEASON, IT ALREADY HAS BEEN. THERE’S BEEN A NUMBER OF MEETS GOING TO HOST TO HIGH-PROFILE -- TWO HIGH-PROFILE EVENTS. SHELLYE: THE 2020 TOYOTA USATF INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THE 2020 NCAA DIVISION ONE INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE HEADED TO ALBUQUERQUE. >> IT’S THE HIGH PROFILE NATURE OF BOTH EVENTS THAT ACTUALLY MAKES THAT EVEN MORE MEANINGFUL. SHELLYE: BOTH EVENTS ARE RETURNING TO THE CITY. ALBUQUERQUE HOSTED THE USATF INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. >> LOVED IT SO MUCH, AND NOW THEY ARE BACK. SHELLYE: THE NCAA DIVISION ONE CHAMPIONSHIPS WERE HELD HERE IN 2014. CITY LEADERS SAY THESE TWO EVENTS WILL BRING OVER $1.5 MILLION INTO THE STATE THROUGH HOTELS, FOOD, ACTIVITIES, AND OF COURSE, THE EVENTS THEMSELVES. >> MANY OF THEM WILL BE IN THE OLYMPICS LATER THIS SUMMER. Albuquerque is getting ready to host some elite athletes. The Duke City is developing a reputation in the track and field world."This year is going to be a phenomenal indoor track season. It already has been. There's been a number of meets, but in the next month, we are going to host two high profile events," said president and CEO of Visit Albuquerque, Tania Armenta. The 2020 Toyota USATF Indoor Championships and the 2020 NCAA Division I Indoor Championships are headed to Albuquerque."It's the high profile nature of both events that actually makes that even more meaningful," Armenta said.Both events are returning to the city. Albuquerque hosted the USATF Indoor Championships for a number of years."Loved it so much and now they are back," Armenta said.The NCAA Division I Championships were held in Albuquerque in 2014. City leaders said these two events will bring over $1.5 million into the state through hotels, food, activities and of course the events themselves."Many of them will be in the Olympics later this summer. That's the caliber of athletes that will be here," Armenta said.They hope, after the events end, that people will remember the Land of Enchantment."We are on the map. Broadcast coverage for these events and an opportunity of a lot of media coverage that a lot of people are going to be thinking about, 'Hey, I hadn't thought about Albuquerque,'" Armenta said.City leaders said these two events will be the biggest sporting events held in the city so far in 2020. The USA Track and Field Indoor Championships are on Feb. 14-15. The NCAA Indoor Championships are on March 13-14.

The 2020 Toyota USATF Indoor Championships and the 2020 NCAA Division I Indoor Championships are headed to Albuquerque.

Both events are returning to the city. Albuquerque hosted the USATF Indoor Championships for a number of years.

"Loved it so much and now they are back," Armenta said.
