The Bliss Electrical School was founded in November 1893. It is "neither a trade school nor a college. It is a special technical school. It is not a preparatory school - it is a finishing school. Its graduates are qualified to enter at once some branch of the engineering profession. Nearly four thousand men have been trained here, and the majority of the occupy excellent positions in various parts of the world." (historical sketch).
