A portrait of a nation and its love affair with guns. A nation composed of 50 states, each with their own ideas of "gun control." In Alaska, anyone over the age of 18 can purchase a gun. They can carry a gun openly, or concealed, also without a license. In fact, Alaska recently passed a law that banned the state from using resources to enforce federal gun laws, thereby enshrining the state's loose standards as the state's only standards.

Ten years ago, Zed Nelson completed a three-year investigation into the gun culture of America. The result was his seminal project "Gun Nation."

Ten years on and the situation remains the same, if not worse. In the United States, 30,000 people die every year by gunfire. There are an estimated 310 million guns in circulation today (and counting). Compare that to a population of over 310 million—and there is likely a gun for every man, woman and child in America. Welcome to gun nation.
