Happy Indigenous People’s Day to all the members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, a vibrant community consisting of two distinctive Native American Tribes: Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Xalychidom Piipaash (Maricopa). Indigenous People’s Day is celebrated on the second Monday of October to honor the rich cultural heritage and history of Native Americans. We are quite excited about our new rewards program and were delighted to share that excitement with our team members this past weekend by hosting them for a special meal to introduce them all to the benefits of the new program. We had all our executives on-hand to share in the fun; including our COO, Don Ayers, who donned a chef's hat and helped prepare the meals; as well as our President and CEO, John Dinius, who helped in serving. Last week we held a brief ceremony for C-CAP apprentices in the Showroom at Casino Arizona to receive their certificates signed by Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs. Robert Garcia from the Governor’s Office was on hand to say a few words of encouragement and present the awards. We had our Chefs and their High School instructors, and of course their parents and members of the C-CAP advisory board, including Jill Smith, Regional Director of C-CAP, in attendance for this very worthy event.   This is the largest Careers through Culinary Arts Program Apprenticeship program in the nation and it's great for both the chefs and Casino Arizona; as we get eager young talent willing to learn our way of operating; and for the apprentices as they can get trained, get certified, get paid, and accumulate zero student debt. We couldn't be more proud to be a part of this program. Congratulations to all the apprentices and we wish them well in future endeavors, be it with us, or elsewhere!

Talking Stick Resort/Casino Arizona recently hosted a Table Games night for Enrolled Community Members to introduce them to some new roles. It was a night of fun, and learning, as we looked to build interest in enrolling in a class and becoming a dealer. This is just another way we seek to promote advancement and opportunities for our Community Members and we were glad so many took part and enjoyed their time!

SRPMIC Community Day, June 14 On this date, in 1879, President Hayes signed an executive order establishing the Salt River Reservation to its current approximate size. However, the Community does not celebrate the legal recognition of land that was already theirs, but instead chooses to reflect on the struggles of their ancestors to remain in their homeland. Throughout the decades, the Community and its members have remained resilient and continued to thrive. So today, Casino Arizona recognizes a part of our family; our Community Members. With a past that was forged with a spirit and determination, you still shine through today. Here are just a few of the members who are a part of your community - and ours - but we stand with all of you in recognizing this day.
