General Partner of VSC Ventures | Investing in startups in dirty, dusty, and dangerous industries | Host of 'CLIMB by VSC'
HOLY WOW you guys! The reception for we've had for our 'Dirty Jobs' summit has been absolutely, unexpectedly EPIC!! When Vijay Chattha and I conceived of a VSC Ventures event bringing together founders and investors focused on the Dirty, Dusty, and Dangerous industries of America, we certainly hoped it would have interest. But it's our inaugural summit so we booked a humble but beautiful venue. Well, thanks to ya'll, we now have a waitlist *longer* than our attendee list. (If you're an SF Fire Marshall reading this, please read no further...) Our goal was 100 people, 50 founders & 50 investors. Right now, we're oversubscribed (lol) on VCs BUT I still want to add a few more Seed to Series B founders building in boring, unsexy industries. Does that sound like you? What are you waiting for! RSVP today: https://lu.ma/4dus91nm BTW wanna know who you'll meet at Dirty Jobs? Of course you do: GPs and Investors like Bilal Zuberi (Lux), Kaitlyn Glancy (Eclipse), Jason Kalira (The Westley Group), Kira Noodleman (Bee Partners), Shawn Xu (Lowercarbon), Valerie Shen (G2VP), Julian Counihan (Schematic), Vijen Patel (81 collection), Paul Straub (Wireframe), Jon Bradford (Dynamo), Sanjay Aggarwal (F-Prime), Brett Wilson (Swift), Abe Yokell (Congruent), Aymerik Renard (HCVC), Rishi Taparia (Garuda), Ryan Gembala (Pathbreaker), Shomik Dutta (Overture), Tom Chi (At One), Shruti Gandhi (Array VC), Peter Sun (Climactic), Maneet Singh (Builders), Julia Lam (Kayak), Lucas Vaz (Ravelin), Zal Bilimoria (Refactor) and so many more! We've also got great strategics and CVCs joining us including Nick Ellis (Amazon Climate Pledge Fund), Gabriel Alvarado (Porsche), Tim Singer (BP), Dr. Yvonne Lutsch (Bosch), Tyler Williams (DPR) and many more. Plus over 50 founders including VSC portfolio founders like Nick Hegeman (Paintjet), Rebecca Hu (Glacier), Sanjeev Mankotia (Gaeastar), Claire Burke Trewin (Homemade), Nishant Jain (Presso) and Bob S. (Goodcall) Massive shout-out to my teammates at VSC including Maggie Philbin, Vidush Jaipuria, and Abigail Campbell for their help and support planning the big day. We can't wait to talk Dirty with you 😉 See you June 4th!

Last year we took over a warehouse in San Francisco to introduce Ample’s “5 Minute EV Battery Swaps” which are designed to create a lateral move from gas to be just as fast, as simple and as cheap, all while being a completely green solution. We invited reporters and YouTube and TikTok creators who were subject matter experts on the topic. On top of securing 48 stories, a video spotlight in Fortune, and 13 pieces of EV influencer content, our VSC x Ample campaign became… 🌟An honoree at the 28th Annual The Webby Awards 💫A finalist in PRovoke Media's SABRE North America Awards, chosen from 2,000+ exceptionally creative entries #Webbyawards #SABRE #BatterySwapping #EVinfluencer #EVBattery CC: Khaled Hassounah, John de Souza, Azhar Hashem, Juan Spiniak, Levi Tillemann, Vijay Chattha, Maggie Philbin, Eric Gonzalez, Abigail Campbell, John Vollmer, Anne Sophie Hurst

In case you missed it, Navin Chaddha took the stage alongside Manish Chandra of Poshmark at this year's Startup Grind, talking about Tulips, Unicorns, and Mayfield Fund's Five Rules of the Road for Building Enduring AI companies. 1️⃣ Company building is a team sport 2️⃣ Sell painkillers, not vitamins 3️⃣ Find your differentiation and build a deep moat 4️⃣ Founder/Investor relationships are a two-way street 5️⃣ The road from unicorn to uni corpse can be short and swift Thanks for hosting, Startup Grind! CC: Kamini Ramani, Navin Chaddha, Vijay Chattha, Eric Gonzalez
It was energizing to meet so many extraordinary ideation and early stage founders Startup Grind. The festival vibe at the Fox Theatre on Broadway was celebratory, the Startup Grind team took such good care of us all the way from check in through escort out of back flap of tent, and the speaker line up was inspiring. I channeled my digital twin, Nik, to chat about Tulips, Unicorns and our Five Rules of the Road for Building Enduring AI companies. Manish Chandra of Poshmark and I discussed learnings from our 12 year journey. Looking forward to building together in the Cognition-as-a-Service AI era of #EndlessPossibilities!

"Great strategy, mediocre culture... it's gonna die." Sunil Paul, serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Spring Free EV, recently joined Maggie Philbin on an episode of Climb by VSC Ventures to share his journey from a technology policy analyst in Washington D.C. to becoming a cornerstone in the evolution of ride-sharing and electric vehicles. Check out the full episode to hear Sunil dive into his advice on relentless teams, culture and his most recent venture: https://lnkd.in/gKqm4Zq5 #TechFounder #ClimateTech #Team #Culture #VC
One of the best books I've ever read was "Relentless" by the legendary trainer Tim Grover. He worked in the trenches with Michael Jordan, Kobe, and others, and while I'm hardly into sports, every page resonated with me because he delved deep into how to maintain relentless focus and keep going when everyone else around you gives up. On our latest episode of Climb by VSC Ventures, I sat down with serial entrepreneur Sunil Paul and cofounder of Spring Free EV, who offered similar advice about maintaining a relentless focus on problem-solving and explained why having a relentless team will amplify a good idea by 100X and make it great. Big thanks to Jay Kapoor and Vijay Chattha for passing the mic to me this week. You can check out the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gKqm4Zq5

Using food as medicine to treat chronic disease sounds obvious. But we’ve lacked the data to show that it lowers healthcare costs and impacts patient outcomes–until now. Take a look at Foodsmart’s report in HIT Consultant Media on its partnership with Wisconsin’s Chorus Community Health Plans showing it reduced the cost of care by over $2.6M in less than a year while helping patients reduce chronic disease.
