    I was awarded a 3 year predoctoral fellowship grant to determine why only certain individuals become addicted to heroin. Using an innovative animal model we studied the individual differences due to heroin exposure both at the behavioral and epigenetic level. Additionally I examined if environmental enrichment can be used as a form of intervention to prevent drug relapse. The proposal is entitled: “Substance Abuse: Individual differences in behavior and epigenetics” (NIDA grant F31DA036322).
