The Pyramid of SEO Success Needs: Those who say they're already doing SEO but aren't seeing results yet is likely because they're still at the "Fix" and "Improvement" stage rather than the "Build" one which is what will allow them to grow further. Use this graph to show them... It's also unlikely that you'll be able to fix/improve *everything* also, so don't wait for that to move to the *build* stage of the process. It's key to prioritize, and balance actions to move forward to maximize impact. See this SEO chart and more: https://lnkd.in/d3xJXcY9

This is really good! I was thinking on something like this earlier. Occasionally I get a client where on the surface everything looks great! The content is great, the domain authority is there, the site looks good and is easy to use, yet the client isn't ranking. Honestly, projects like this make me nervous because I worry I won't find anything, then I get into the site and start digging and I often don't have to dig far to find a bunnnnch of problems! Just as this diagram shows, I was thinking today, only an hour or two ago, how if the foundations are off the site will never reach its full potential. Write all the great content in the world, but you cannot neglect those solid foundations, especially if you're in a competitive space. All that said, I completely completely agree that there's no need to fix EVERYTHING before you move on. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good!

At the enterprise level, my SEO fixes are happening through People, Process and Procedure to make sure problems are getting fixed before they get near the website...Org Awareness is my secret weapon and I partner with: - Finance / Procurement - get visibility on active RFPs by writing them use cases that lead to business requirements and acceptance criteria or web ready assets. Cause everything gets agreed before my IT partners start building and I'm baked in on priorities and user acceptance testing. If you're they're best friend, they'll give you a heads up when "found" money" is available so I can help IT get more money and Finance shows how they're hitting savings because we're less costly than X departments - Legal / Compliance - with a set of marketing guidelines and standards operating procedures you will mitigate risk and provide assurance that you're following their asks. Builds trust and helps reduce endless content edits. - Internal Controls - are my favorite people because when some rogue element wants to derail your SEO, they will audit. Make sure they know where auditing should be done. Will get your back to stop other groups from violating Webmaster Guidelines. I have more groups that I actively integrated.

I never understood the SEO pyramid. While surely it can give you a to do list, it does not take into account the strategy of the company.. it is a remnant from old times, when SEO was a silo discipline

Thank you, this post is very much needed. The most difficult part, in my opinion, is making sure that team members or clients understand why you shouldn't jump straight into the build phase. I often hear, we can just fix things as we go, which is true but it also means the focus is divided which could lead to more problems in the future.

Thank you Aleyda Solís for this effective success pyramid. Building a SEO strategy which aligns with the business strategy has become crucial. Fixing and improving things can help to secure a rank. But building valuable content assets for the target audience can help to secure business goals.

Great post! We should recognize and value "fix" and "improvement".
