SP central to Silver Spoon’s Super Bowl AR innovation 🏟️
The 2024 Super Bowl presented Silver Spoon, a real-time graphics and animation company, with the opportunity to combine augmented reality and live broadcast. SP’s tracking and control solutions played a crucial role in achieving several broadcast firsts 🙌
To reach a younger audience, broadcast channel Nickelodeon showed the first-ever simulcast of the event. Additionally, Silver Spoon handled all AR content and operations for the CBS Studio shows at the Bellagio, the game broadcast on CBS. Together these 3 simultaneous shows utilised a collective:
•36 Unreal Engine servers
•32-person on-site crew
•15 tracked cameras
“We had 15 tracked cameras across three shows. Bringing SP into the fold was essential for streamlining our operations and ensuring seamless integration across all platforms,” recalls Matthew Houstle, director of technology at Silver Spoon. He continues "SP allowed us to consolidate our infrastructure into a single server, reducing backups across all shows and unifying our engineering team. Their software not only facilitated camera tracking but also managed our server failover seamlessly."
