Zero inbox is a myth that is sold to us. For years. I followed it for years before I realised it wasn't making me more productive. It can make you anxious and that means less productive. Pursuit of zero inbox is futile unless you ask WHY is that email in your inbox. Are you working on what's urgent to others? Or what's important to you? Being productive is a mindset not a clean inbox. How do you feel about zero inbox? Works for you? #gettingthingsdone #productivity #work #managebetter #zeroinbox +++++ Reach out if you want 1on1 coaching on being more productive and other mid career blues. #coaching

  • Zero inbox is not productivity.

It's only task pushing.

Pushing work to others doesn't mean it's done.

Absolutely! There’s no one-size-fit-all inbox strategy. Deal with your inboxes daily instead of focusing on getting the counter down to zero. One would end up saving time and energy if the focus is reading/checking out the intentional mail that has dropped in. :)

I agree Anshuman Tiwari zero email inbox is a ping pong game, not productivity. Productivity is a feeling, it is the fulfillment we feel at the end of each day. Productivity is not measured in tasks or number of emails that are pushed back.

My first boss from Grindwell Norton. He had a unique method. He had three trays. One for current month, one for previous month and one for T-2 month. Every month he would diligently delete the papers left in T-2 month saying now they are of no use. I use a similar policy. I just archive

I've been working with #GTD principles for 15 years now, and (as always) I notice that what gets amplified are mostly generalizations and simplifications. I've optimized my Inbox strategy by tagging, flagging and setting follow-up due dates, and creating search folders (Outlook), and it's been working great for me. Yes, I try to keep my unread mails to zero, but that is just one aspect.
