Although I'm still new to BB2C: Building Bridges to Careers, last week's 10-year Anniversary Party and fundraiser received quite the local and regional crowd. I'm thrilled to be working alongside these driven individuals to continue to foster and support successful students, prosperous businesses, and thriving communities. From left to right, The Marietta Times photo features Tasha Werry, Ed.D, our Executive Director, me, and Heather Miller, our Outreach Facilitator. Read more about the event here: https://lnkd.in/gH9FWTiP Disclaimer: This is a lovely article that accurately describes BB2C's mission, vision, and action! However, the article also states that I am a founder of this 10-year old nonprofit and, while I would have LOVED to be part of that think-tank, unfortunately, I cannot accept that claim to fame. #localnews #nonprofit #collaboration #appalachia

I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Trekking Group for the #Fulbright Insight Trip to #Nepal. We dined with Sherpa families in tea houses and lodges, enagaged in national celebrations with members of the US Embassy and Fulbright, and most importantly, partnered with Empower Nepali Girls (ENG), a nonprofit, to provide items such as school and medical supplies to families in rural Nepal that participate in the ENG scholarship program. With excitement, I wanted to share that our article, Opioids and School Leaders: Bricolage Leadership in Appalachian Ohio, is now available in the International Journal of Leadership in Education (featured below). Rural Action and BB2C: Building Bridges to Careers recently put on the first, pilot internship celebration! Halfway into our internship funding, we have placed over 258 interns at 121 business host sites across 19 southeastern Ohio counties and through multi-state partnerships in West Virginia and Virginia. (Shout out to The Education Alliance!) Thank you to our internship funders for enabling us to provide these exploratory opportunities to students: Rural Action/Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC); Appalachian Children Coalition; and Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers' Coalition As one of our business owners said, "It’s about #community. Students aren’t always aware of what’s in the community right now, and to give them an opportunity to be part of that, to see the adult interactions, to take pride in what they do... it’s important.” Learn more and see the original BB2C post here: https://lnkd.in/gxvtZNTz Finally, thank you for bringing interns from your areas to participate, Jordan Spence with BB2C & NOBLE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT and Sandy Doudna with SWITZERLAND OF OHIO LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT! This program would not have taken off like it has without you and others like you. #CommunityAndCareerConnectedLearning, #EcosystemLearning, #Appalachia, #thrivingcommunities, #placebased
