Founder, CEO at Evelyn Health - currently raising pre-seed investment | Prev. Founder at Fresh Fitness Food
We have made a big, bold, brave decision at Evelyn Health. Evelyn is not a one-stop shop for women's health. We're point-focused and determined to become the go-to for PMS and PMDD. "The face, voice and home of PMS", in other words. I have Elisabeth von Westerholt to thank for this gem. PMS is a nascent space with a significant supply-demand gap, and Evelyn is going to meet the unmet healthcare needs of the ~1.4bn women that are affected every month, for up to half the month, for up to 40yrs. In short, we are putting premenstrual health on the map. Whilst we applaud the amazing, trailblazing work done by companies focusing on fertility, menstrual health, sexual health, contraception and menopause, it's time to recognise that one half of women's health has been forgotten about. We're here to change that. To follow Evelyn's journey and for tips, insights and actionable advice on how to navigate PMS and PMDD, click the link in my bio. #femtech #womenshealth #femalehealth #PMDD #PMS #genderhealthgap #healthtech #medtech #digitalhealth #hormonehealth #healthcare #innovation #health

We acknowledge all women, girls, transgender and gender diverse people affected by endometriosis (including those yet to be diagnosed), on the first day of Endometriosis Awareness Month. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 Australian women and girls, and many others who are transgender or gender diverse. It causes significant pain, infertility and concern. The average time to get a diagnosis is 6.5 years. That is way too long! We are pleased the Australian Government and the Victorian Government have established new services and are undertaking inquiries, which we hope will result in earlier diagnosis and treatment. The Women’s is also working on 9 key research projects into endometriosis detection and treatment, exploring non-invasive diagnosis options, supplement-based pain relief, the rollout of a digital fertility platform, and more. Painful periods that impact on your day-to-day life are not normal. If you have bad period pain, please speak with your GP so they can explore care options for you. Senior Partner, Life Sciences, McKinsey & Company. Advising top teams on innovation, sustainability, and organizational transformation
So inspired by today's conversation on the health of #Women with Elizabeth Bailey from RH Capital, Linda Griffith from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Marcel van Duin, PhD from Organon at #Bio2023. The discussion touched on several misconceptions that we need to address head on 1. Women's health is so much more than reproductive health; diseases that disproportionately or differentially impact women are many, but the understanding of sex-linked differences is often limited 2. Just because we have some solutions, it doesn't mean the unmet needs are fully addressed (e.g., contraception, fertility) 3. Language matters: endometriosis is never "benign" for the women affected While there has been progress recently, we need stronger commitment to basic science in this space, more strategic collaborations, funding and mobilization of all stakeholders to close the women's health gap - after all, we're talking about half the population!

Happy New Year to all - and wishing 2024 to be a year of improved health for women across our region. With our amazing teams in South, East and South-East Asia we in Organon SEA look forward to doing our part in 2024 and be #HereForHerHealth. In their report of the Global health achievements 2023 (who.int) WHO highlights a number of health areas, where 2023 saw major progress. Among these are advances in sexual and reproductive health, where access to modern contraception, fertility treatments and safe delivery are essential. But there is so much more to do, as there is still a stark deficit in investment in women’s health despite an increasing amount of evidence showing that furthering women’s health leads to long-term productivity and economic prosperity for the societies. Together with public and private stakeholders we will year for year make progress on that!

Teen mothers around the world face innumerable challenges when accessing health information and services to prevent poor outcomes such pregnancy, HIV etc. In the broader and holistic manner, to address teen pregnancy and its accompanying negative consequences, we must know the drivers of early sexual debut in different settings. Knowledge on the dangers of early sexual debut alone is not enough to change attitudes and practices - we must go deeper and deal with underlying causes. Poor economic, social and cultural environments coupled with retrogressive societal norms exacerbate adolescents, young people, young women and girls' vulnerabilities and lead to poor sexual & reproductive health outcomes. #UHC #healthsystemstrengthening🏛 #sdgs2030 #SBC
