Going into month 5 and still job hunting! Part of me is feeling pretty defeated after hundreds of applications and a handful of interviews, but remaining hopeful that my dream job is right around the corner. I am new to the ID profession, so I'm just in need of a company that is willing to take a chance on a newbie. I promise, I won't disappoint! Seeking a #remote opportunity in #instructionaldesign or #learninganddevelopment. Please give me a like or share to boost this, I'll appreciate it forever!
Hang in there, Emily. It’s competitive out there, but your time will come. If it’s feasible, I suggest that you apply for short-term contract (3-6 months) instructional design work to add to your portfolio. Not to encourage a “great resignation” mentality, but you can end the contract job early if you land a full-time job before it’s done. Most recruiters of temporary contract work know there’s always the possibility that contingent workers are looking for full-time employment.
Emily Hooper have you looked locally and for smaller companies with fewer applicants? Are you part of teaching: A path to L &D? Do you k ow about Ali Parrish’s course? And I’m guessing you have some work to display?
Check out The Home Depot they have remote (just type remote in the location) I think they will have something for you!! (I’m a former employee lol 😂 not a paid spokesperson unfortunately but I think you’ll like it there!) 🤗💛
Hey Emily! Check out The Fifth Trade podcast anywhere you listen to podcasts! We’re talking to teachers who have left the profession, and sharing your stories, advice, and opportunities now. Hopefully we can help you take that next step! Sending you encouragement from afar! 🤍
