It is with great pleasure that we announce that Masla Empathy Lab is a certified B Corp!! B Lab 🤎 We are the 2nd Black women-owned B Corp and the 4th Black Owned B Corp in the province of Quebec! To be certified, Masla Empathy Lab completed the B Lab Impact Assessment for quantifying our environmental and social performance, which gave a baseline for improvements and strengths, as well as helping to quantify how Masla Empathy Lab lives its mission. The BIA is measured on a 200-point scale, with a minimum score of 80 points required for a company to be eligible for certification. The BIA addresses 5 key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. 🚀 Masla Empathy Lab completed our first BIA in 2023 and we received an overall score of 95.2. We are incredibly proud of this score as the non-certified business similar to our own scores around 51 and the highest score currently held by Patagonia is 152. I hope the presentation on Black Cladding goes well Matthew Karakoulakis and helps make inroads to putting an end to this behaviour. We are witnessing corporate behaviour across many sectors being put under the spotlight and being held to account. Hopefully those businesses that engage in Black Cladding will have their day in the spotlight too and be held to account. In the meantime though these Black Cladding organisations will still probably come out with virtue signalling in support of the Voice referendum, whilst at the same time reaping profits for themselves from their Black Cladding activities. These are behaviours which go against everything that Voice, Treaty and Truth stand for. To the employees in those businesses, maybe it is time you hold the directors in these businesses to account. Are their values really what you want to be part of? To the purchasers of services from these businesses, maybe it is time you took a deeper look at what sits behind these businesses rather than just tick a box that you have met Indigenous procurement targets.
