#DRC The Elections - bis It pains me to see that women still have to suffer gender discrimination and violence whilst casting their vote; a fondamental right so many forefathers fought for centuries ago. This is unacceptable regardless of political affiliation or belief. My message to all authorities is the following: #rdc #respect #nonauxviolenceselectorales Chantal Yelu Mulop

Women made up just 153 (15 percent) of the 1,030 aspirants who registered as candidates according to the provisional list released by the National Elections Commission last week. There is a very real chance that Liberia’s legislature, at 11 percent, already had the third lowest proportion of women in Africa, could drop even further. Kindly read my latest article on the 30 percent gender quota and know what parties said were reasons for not meeting their commitment to having the 30% gender representation on their party's listing. https://lnkd.in/dJXDAcqS

#Elections #women #Parliament Women's representation in the parliament of the Democratic Republic of #Congo (#RDC) has nearly doubled since 2006, reaching 13% in 2024. While this is progress, it remains modest compared to the global average of 26%. However, the active participation of women in the 2023 legislative elections suggests a more equitable and inclusive future. The #CENI selected 17% of female candidates, compared to 83% of male candidates. Globally, women's political participation is a crucial indicator of progress. In 2022, #LatinAmerica and the #Caribbean will have a noteworthy 36% female representation, with #Europa and #CentralAsia following closely behind.
