Green Hydrogen Systems, Danish green hydrogen producers, suppliers, and German industrial offtake market representatives signed a joint declaration at the German-Danish Green Hydrogen Summit in Copenhagen, asking for political action to realise a connected German-Danish hydrogen pipeline by 2028.   The declaration underscores the potential of green hydrogen in realising a net-zero emission economy and highlights the urgency of developing hydrogen offtake and infrastructure. With Germany's substantial industrial hydrogen demand and the European target of achieving 10 million tons of renewable hydrogen production by 2030, robust leadership and collaboration are emphasised.   To unlock these opportunities and to solidify Northern Europe as a prime hub for the green energy transition, we urge the German and Danish governments to expedite the planned hydrogen infrastructure and the collaborative letter of intent signed in March. This effort aims to connect our two countries' supply and demand sides by 2028. The final investment decision on the cross-border hydrogen infrastructure must be made by mid-2024 to realise this. This timeline is essential for the successful deployment of the projected hydrogen infrastructure capacity between Germany and Denmark by 2028.   The German and Danish industries are ready to deliver on EU and national green hydrogen targets. The world's first green hydrogen price index has just been launched! This index is meant to provide a benchmark for the pricing of green hydrogen, which is hydrogen generated from renewable sources such as wind and solar power. The index is a part of the Hydrogen Council's mission to decarbonize the energy sector and make green hydrogen available in large enough quantities to be cost-efficient. Despite there being no trade in renewable hydrogen yet, this index is an important first step to providing reliable pricing information for the industry. It is estimated that hydrogen generated from renewable sources will play an important role in reducing global emissions in the coming years. EU policy support for renewable hydrogen ramps up in Europe as global competition intensifies - The European Union is rapidly implementing policy measures that will accelerate renewable hydrogen production and use. - The World Economic Forum and Accenture have collaborated to release an updated Enabling Measures Roadmap for Renewable Hydrogen in Europe. - This roadmap serves as a valuable toolbox to keep on top of policy developments, funding and initiatives in Europe, and assesses the progress made toward the hydrogen economy at scale. Following its Fit for 55 policy package and its subsequent REPowerEU plan, the European Union (EU) is rapidly implementing policy measures that will accelerate renewable hydrogen production and use, positioning it as one of the frontrunners in the global race towards the hydrogen economy. For the EU, renewable hydrogen will play a crucial role in enabling the accelerated transition of the bloc’s energy mix, expedited by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Most recently, the eagerly awaited Delegated Acts of Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) were adopted in June. This significant milestone provides regulatory clarity by defining under which conditions hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels can be classified as RFNBO, as well as establishing the methodology for calculating associated greenhouse gas emissions savings. At the onset of 2022, the World Economic Forum, in collaboration with Accenture and the International Renewable Energy Agency, published the Enabling Measures Roadmap for Green Hydrogen Europe. 🇮🇪 National Hydrogen Strategy published in Ireland 📲 https://lnkd.in/d3Erz_26 ℹ️ Strategic vision on the role that #hydrogen will play in Ireland’s energy system, looking to its long-term role as a key component of a zero-carbon economy, and the short-term actions that need to be delivered over the coming years to enable the development of the hydrogen sector in Ireland. 🔸 Focus on #RenewableHydrogen 🔸 Prior to 2030, hydrogen will be produced from grid connected electrolysis from surplus #renewables. 🔸2 GW target of #offshorewind, for the production of renewable hydrogen, to be in development by 2030 🔸 Ireland’s domestic hydrogen energy demand needs could equate to between 4.6 and 39 TWh by 2050. When including non- domestic energy needs such as International #Aviation and #Shipping, these values could rise to between 19.8 to 74.6 TWh. 🔸National hydrogen network linking initial clusters and large-Scale storage will be key to creating a liquid mature hydrogen market. ➕Where feasible, repurposing existing natural gas pipeline infrastructure to hydrogen is favourable. Promising results in terms of the technical capability of the gas network to transport hydrogen blends up to 100%. ➕Long duration storage essential to the future cost competitiveness and price resilience of hydrogen. ➕Networks and storage infrastructure, as well as interconnection import/export routes, will play a key role in ensuring security and price resilience of supply ➕ Commercial ports to play an important role ➕ Long-term integrated planning is essential 🎯 The Strategy is being developed for three primary reasons: 1️⃣ Decarbonising the Irish economy, providing a solution to hard to decarbonise sectors where electrification is not feasible, or cost-effective 2️⃣ Enhancing its energy security, through the development of an indigenous zero carbon renewable fuel which can act as an alternative to the 77% of the Irish energy system which today relies on fossil fuel imports 3️⃣ Developing industrial opportunities, through the potential development of export markets for renewable hydrogen and other areas such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels 👉 The Strategy considers the needs of the entire hydrogen value chain including production, end-uses, transportation and storage, safety, regulation, markets, innovation, and skills. 👀 The Strategy will provide clarity for stakeholders on how Ireland expects the hydrogen economy to develop and scale up over the coming decades, across the entire value chain. #HydrogenStrategy

“LHYFE AND JET H2 ENERGY TO SUPPLY GREEN HYDROGEN IN SCHWÄBISCH GMÜND” By Arnes Biogradlija - January 25, 2023 “Cooperation is being planned between LHYFE and the joint venture JET H2 Energy to develop a hydrogen filling station in Schwäbisch Gmünd.” “In 2024, construction will start. The initiative is a turning point for the city and pursues a comprehensive strategy for the quick expansion of the hydrogen economy.” “An agreement to construct a 10 MW water electrolysis plant with a daily output capacity of up to 4 tons of green hydrogen was signed by Lhyfe and the town of Schwäbisch Gmünd in June 2022. The collaboration between Lhyfe and JET H2 Energy, which calls for the construction of a hydrogen filling station, is the next step in the growth of the neighborhood’s hydrogen infrastructure. The Netherlands renewable hydrogen plan gets green light from the European Commission. By ALICIA MOORE The Dutch have their sights set on green hydrogen development. A €246 million Dutch plan to support renewable hydrogen production and the construction of a minimum 60 megawatt (MW) electrolysis capacity in the Netherlands, has been approved by the European Commission (EC). The plan is in line with the EU Hydrogen Strategy and the European Green Deal. The goal of the Netherlands renewable hydrogen plan is to contribute to the development of green hydrogen in line with goals that have already been set by the EU Hydrogen Strategy and the European Green Deal. Additionally, the measure will contribute to the RePowerEu Plan goals to speed up the green energy transition and end dependence on Russian fossil fuels. The Dutch funding support from the EC will be given as a direct grant over the course of a 7-to-15 year period. The funding will be awarded though a competitive bidding process that is intended to wrap up this year (2023). The tender is open to all established companies in the European Economic Area that operate or wish to build and operate a hydrogen production unit in the country. Companies that are eligible will be required to provide compliance with European Union (EU) criteria for the production of renewable fuels of non-biological origin that have previously been laid out in the EC’s rules on renewable hydrogen. https://lnkd.in/ez3Z5S6e

Hydrogen economy in Finland is developing: Neste and the other leading energy companies in Finland join forces to develop an industrial hydrogen valley. Today Neste is the biggest hydrogen consumer in Finland. We need renewable hydrogen in order to reach our climate commitments, e.g. reaching carbon neutral production by 2035. The industrial hydrogen valley would combine infrastructure, storage and transmission of renewable hydrogen, serving both producers and consumers of hydrogen.
