The Case for Homeschooling in Today's Society In today's world, it is becoming increasingly difficult for parents to navigate the social and political landscape when it comes to educating their children. Many parents are worried about the negative influences that their children may encounter in the classroom and want to find a way to protect them from harmful ideas. #homeschooling #interest #navigating #Wokeness

ICYMI July 23rd, 2020: Homeschooling Update: Defining Expectations During the summers, we maintain “summer enrichment” activities for our daughters. With schooling forced online in March 2020, we’ve done all we can to simply remain steady and consistent throughout this summer. When the official school year ended, we maintained the daily routine of lessons, worksheets, reading, and activities. To transition to what was basically homeschooling, we had to set our expectations higher than that of the school system. To be fair, the school system was rushed into an impossible situation. Now, despite a summer to prepare for a new school year starting online, it seems the public schools still are not ready. That’s why we have opted to officially become homeschooling parents. Note: I am cross-posting on homeschooling to Poet Ponders. On this blog, I'll post a bit more about the challenges or benefits of being an #autistic parent to two children with https://is.gd/XpzeIY #actuallyautistic #autisticblog #autism

The Crucial Interplay: Home vs School Environment Before a child steps into school, their personality is already taking shape within the walls of their home. While schools and teachers play a pivotal role, the significance of the home environment cannot be overstated. 🏠 Home as the Foundation: The early years at home lay the groundwork for a child's personality. It's where values, attitudes, and behaviors are first encountered. 👩🏫 School as a Continuation: As a child enters school, the learning journey extends. The school environment complements and reinforces the principles instilled at home. 🌱 Holistic Development: Both environments contribute uniquely. Home offers personal nuances, while school introduces social dynamics and educational growth. 🤝 Partnership for Growth: Parents and teachers should collaborate, ensuring a seamless transition between home and school, fostering a well-rounded development. Recognising the joint influence of home and school creates a powerful foundation for a child's journey. Share your thoughts. How do you balance the dynamics between home and school for your child's growth? 🏡🎓 #HomeAndSchoolIndia #ChildDevelopment #ParentingInsights #EducationPartnership #HolisticLearning #EarlyYearsDevelopment #FamilyAndEducation #FoundationOfPersonality #CollaborativeParenting

✏️ Homeschooling was typically either loved or loathed by parents/carers during the pandemic. 📚However, for many families, particularly for pupils with SEN or previous school trauma, home education can be a positive way to access the curriculum. ‼️ In fact, in figures released this year, The Department for Education stated that more than 86,000 children are currently home-educated in the UK. 🌳 Our latest blog explores how provision can be accessed and implemented outside of a typical school environment and how a homeschooling package may benefit your child. 📖 Check out our blog on homeschooling including EOTAS now: https://lnkd.in/dD6MfqBF 🤫 p.s. Check back early next year as we are currently working on something very exciting to provide more help and information on this area! #homeschooling #EOTAS #SEN #SEND #Specialneeds #specialneedseducation #tutoring #mentoring #asc #autism #semh #socialemotional #neurodiverse #neurodiversity #communication #specialneedssupport #parentsofspecialneeds #parenting #parentingsen

Relationships are always the key to unlocking potential. Connection is crucial in the development of our children and young people. As someone who has worked in education for over a decade, I know the ridiculous amount of pressure education staff are under to demonstrate 'progress'. But for me, the most important progress is not the sort you will see on a piece of paper, it's not a test score or curriculum tracker. It is in the quality of the relationships and the personal progress towards becoming as independent as possible and empowered. Progress for everyone is different, perhaps progress is fewer meltdowns this week, perhaps it's they went to the toilet independently, maybe they tolerated others in their personal space, maybe they had less self harming thoughts or behaviours this week. Celebrate the wins, however small they may seem to others, the amount of work and effort from the young person and the team around them to achieve these steps is no small feat! Progress in learning will take place when a child feels happy and safe and they have positive relationships with the adults/team around them. #childrensmentalhealth #SEND #AutismDerby #SENDDerby #connectionsmatter #WellbeingWiseDerby
