When I host a gathering, whether personal or professional, I’m intentional about creating a moment of surprise and delight. If it’s for afternoon tea, I break out the tea cakes, platters and fine china. If it’s a dinner party, I create a feast for their eyes the moment they walk in, with fizzing glasses of Champagne and something tasty to nibble on. And when I host an Imperia workshop, every seat has a goodie bag, because who doesn’t love a goodie bag? Surprise. Delight. Care. Those are the things I like to communicate from the first step inside the door. High Performing Teams don’t just happen, they are built over time, through small moments that build trust and intimacy. 🥰 The annual Butlerness Bash is just one of these moments. The weather was kind to us but as a group we were there to have a good time whatever the weather! 🌞 ☔️ It would be easier to go and do an event like this at a dedicated place, but that isn’t Butlerness, we stick to our roots for what makes our winning culture. Building and dismantling a bash like this together, finding the local beer 🍺 and pig 🐷 supplier, connecting up kegs and finding the person in the team who has a DJ talent, all adds a layer of intimacy. We spend so much time with the people we work with, it’s important to get to know the people that support them outside of work, understanding that enables us as a team to better support each other, which in turn drives the vision. A high performing team and a great place to work. A question that needs clarifying before next year, I could do with your help on please…. Last night I went to mans club … and seriously I’d recommend it to anyone. See one of the tough things about getting older is … We end up feeling a little stuck; - Stuck in a rut and bored - Stuck to our partners all the time - Stuck to old friends who haven’t changed - Stuck to the work day-in-day-out I think you need to mix it up you know. Sometimes you just need to connect and meet different people. I realised recently I was only attending business events and networking events around marketing. I’d become stuck in a rut again, seeing the same faces every other week. Time to make a change! After seeing an ad for the Round Table local group near me (aka the Man Crèche) I though hell, why not? And it was as cute as you would think. Just a group of guys being guys. This one they were teaching each other how to make carbonara, cooking pizza and wine tasting. An Italian night 🇮🇹 Like outside of work, when was the last time you surrounded yourself with complete strangers. I didn’t even know it was a thing! So I put it to you. If you’re feeling a little stuck, lost or bored with the same ol’ And you’d like to connect with some totally random people, maybe give this a try. Who knows who you’ll meet. Anxiety is real. How do you cope? 😒 I'm currently at my local watering hole, Nobo Brewery, and tonight they're hosting Boynton Beach's Business Over Brews. A networking event for professionals in the area. Great, let's talk marketing. Let's talk Sister Cities. Let's talk Chamber of Commerce and economic development... or I'll hide into my phone at my bar stool. This is my 3rd time attending and, once again, I can't stand up nor talk to people. I'm 👏🏼 not 👏🏼 shy. If you've met me, you'd think I'd be hosting these events with spunk, gusto, and quite possibly a curse word here or there. 🤪 I did a walk through, said "hi" to maybe 4 people and got kind of "pushed out" of talking circles. So, I came back to my spot and took this selfie. Do you have any favorite ice breaker questions? Any advice for an introvert who fakes being an extrovert pretty well? lol. p.s I love Nobo Brewery because I can bring my own non-alcoholic beers, they serve me in a nice glass, and I throw the bartender a $20 cash for the trouble. There's a lot to be said for a local place respecting my decisions and even more, being accommodating. Discussing Protocol and Etiquette with members of a church and showing how etiquette and courtesies are relevant to all aspects of our lives: serving in church or at a special event, attending a business meeting at work, church or elsewhere, dining in a formal setting, relating to colleagues at work or your neighbour in the community, Protocol and Etiquette are applicable in all our activities.
