A driving force!! I'm glad to share that my first week of internship at INTO LEGAL WORLD FOUNDATION has concluded on a positive note, leaving me with a smile on my face. There are two reasons behind this: Firstly, I tried my hands on video creation. Initially, this seemed quite intimidating due to personal reasons. However, I pushed through and submitted four short videos on various topics. This experience has, in terms of confidence, placed me in a better position than before. I would like to express my gratitude to Shalini Kaushal ma'am for providing unwavering support. Secondly, my efforts have borne fruit, as I have achieved third top intern rank in batch 2. This achievement serves as a strong source of motivation for me to perform better than before. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Amaresh P. sir for acknowledging my hard work. In my case, both internal and external motivation play crucial roles in driving me forward. I would love to hear what motivates you in the comments section. P.S. I got a new intern today. As usual, my first question - “what are your expectations for this internship?” Why do I ask this question. Because surely one decided with a specific firm based on certain expectations. They’re here to learn and not to help you finish your work. I mean, if they do, yay! But that’s really not the objective. So she said, “I know the area of work that you do, hence I’d like to experience the 101 from meeting a client to filing a case and the process of it.” So now as her mentor, I know and I can be more intentional in the work I expose her to. I went on to say, “there is no question to silly, I believe in open communication and to always ask.” I look forward to how I’d be able to play a small part in her legal journey. Hopefully to inspire and build her up. It’s an intentional choice to take someone under your wings. There is a call to guide, mentor, lead, help and build. You get to play that part. And that's normal. It's completely okay to hate your first internship/other internships you've had. 📌 There can be instances from the internship where you might have been mistreated. Such a is a story of mine. 📌 In my first two years of law, where I was figuring out every other option apart from law, I entered into my very first paid internship and I was absolutely thrilled for it. Even though I enjoyed the journey, there were some bits that I did not like. 1. Overworking 2. Under appreciation 3. Under payment ☝ These are some of the cons of the internship I saw; and count it as lucky or not, I decided to not be walked over after that. 📌 I realized that no matter where I'm come from, or where that firm/company/organization stands, it does not hold the power to walk over me whatever may be the situation. Soon after certain incidents, I personally felt disconnected with the company and called it quits. And, this post might or might not inspire you, but the aim of this post is for you to know that it's okay to call it quits. ✅ There's so much more that I'd love to share, I'll do that in the next part!
