We are pleased to share the recent publication of two studies related to our investigational vaccine for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), in The Journal of Infectious Diseases (JID). RSV is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract disease and viral pneumonia in infants and causes significant morbidity in older adults. Our vaccine candidate, RSVpreF, is currently in Phase III trials to evaluate its protective efficacy in infants (passively protected through immunization of pregnant women) and in older adults (through active immunization). Today, we are thrilled to share that a scheduled interim analysis of our Phase 2/3 EPIC-HR study showed our investigational COVID-19 oral antiviral protease inhibitor treatment, which originated in Pfizer laboratories, has demonstrated an 89% reduced risk of hospitalization in adult patients with COVID-19 who are at high-risk of severe illness. If approved or authorized, this novel antiviral could offer another vital tool in our continued fight against COVID-19.    Since the very beginning of this pandemic, our scientists have worked with the utmost urgency to help lessen the impact of this devastating disease, and their perseverance has been recognized once again with today’s exciting news. This investigational treatment has advanced from initial design to this incredible moment within approximately 20 months, thanks to the efforts of so many.    We are grateful to all the patients, investigators and sites around the world who participated in this clinical trial. Today, along with BioNTech SE, we announced topline results in 2,260 adolescents 12-15 years of age from the pivotal Phase 3 study of the Pfizer-BioNTech #COVID19 vaccine. The findings showed high antibody responses and 100% efficacy against COVID-19, and that the vaccine was well-tolerated. The companies plan to submit the data to the FDA for a requested expansion of the Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
