For the past 6 years I have been tracking the progress of women in the workplace to obtain insights from my Caribbean female leaders and professionals on how supported they feel in their career. International Women's day shines a spotlight on this every year, but I deal with it and equip women in my Annual Women Leader's Conference with the Institute of Banking Finance of Trinidad and Tobago. This year we are focusing on Leading with Confidence and ask that women professionals and leaders complete our short survey to inform our upcoming conference on May 14 & 15 2024 at the Hyatt Regency Conference Centre. https://lnkd.in/eBWeMKuM

Day 13 of 31 Statistic of the day: 24.3% While the number of women in boardrooms is increasing, there remains significant progress to be made. According to Brookings, African women currently occupy 24.3% of company board seats in Africa, while globally, women constitute 27% of corporate board members. Throughout Africa's history, women have been pivotal problem solvers in diverse contexts, showcasing their leadership capabilities. Research from the International Labour Organisation highlights that female representation on boards correlates with enhanced company performance. Additionally, a McKinsey study underscores women's innate leadership qualities, such as emotional intelligence and empathy, which provide unique perspectives crucial for effective decision-making. Moreover, the presence of women in boardrooms is associated with fostering more ethical business practices and stronger performance in corporate social responsibility initiatives. Some might not find this statistic alarming but given the multitude of benefits, how could we get more women into those boardrooms to enable the acceleration/growth and sustainability of African SMEs? #AfricanDevelopment #SustainableGrowth #genderequity #AfricaTransformation #EmpowerWomen #internationalwomensday2024 #InvestInWomenAccelerateProgress #PicCourtesyOfSalonTrue
